Why We Create Websites In WordPress

What started out as a blogging service, quickly became the world’s most popular content management system (CMS) in the world. 27% of websites use WordPress in one way or another.

At Fourteen Forty, we use WordPress as a platform for almost all of our websites. It allows clients to easily add, modify, and delete content without coming back to us asking for changes, happy client and happy marketing company! It’s the perfect starting point for any business big or small to give yourself an online presence or to bring your business into the 21st century.

There are so many reasons that we feel justified in choosing WordPress as our CMS of choice, we will discuss more of them below.

Community

wordpress community

The WordPress community is one of the biggest development groups in the world. Thousands of forums and chat rooms dedicated to all things WordPress. If you’ve ever had a problem with WordPress, chances are someone else has already come up against the same problem and found a solution which is easy to implement. There are even special conferences organised specifically on the topic of wordpress. The most popular one, Wordcamp, has events all around the world.

Plugins, Plugins, Plugins

If there’s a feature you want included on your website, there’s likely a plugin for it. However, word of warning, not all plugins are as they seem. Some plugins can break your entire site if it’s not configured correctly to work with your version of WordPress. Some can do all sorts of malicious things so you need to know which plugins are safe to use and which are not. We don’t recommend installing any plugins yourself.

SEO

search engine optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation is important for all websites and can sometimes be tricky to get right without help, fortunately WordPress automatically comes optimised for SEO. Also with the free Yoast SEO plugin your website will be even more search engine friendly. Improved SEO means your website will appear nearer the top of Google search so if you want to stand out from the crowd, you need to make sure your website is search engine optimised. Mobile ready

On average 66% of your website traffic will come from mobile devices. If your website doesn’t look great on devices like iPads and iPhones, your potential customers will leave your site and never return due to their bad experience. At Fourteen Forty all of our websites are mobile responsive before they leave our development area. From a huge iMac screen right down to a small Samsung screen, your site will look fantastic on as many devices as possible.

Like a fine wine

WordPress is over 15 years old. During that time it has been refined, polished and enhanced to become the world’s most loved content management system. And with the release of Version 5.0 codenamed “Gutenberg” it’s not slowing down anytime soon.
